Zakat Policy
Last updated: 01/06/2026
At Wesal Charity Organization, we understand that Zakat is a sacred obligation and an act of worship — not simply a donation. We are committed to handling every Zakat contribution with the utmost care, ensuring it reaches those who are eligible under Islamic principles, fully and faithfully.
Our Commitment
We pledge that 100% of the Zakat you give will be distributed only to those eligible to receive it, in accordance with Islamic guidelines. Zakat funds are kept distinct from general donations and are never used to cover administrative or operational costs.
Who Is Eligible to Receive Zakat
In line with the Quran (Surah At-Tawbah, 9:60), Zakat is distributed to the eight categories of eligible recipients:
- The poor (Al-Fuqara) — those living without adequate means.
- The needy (Al-Masakin) — those in hardship who cannot meet their basic needs.
- Zakat administrators — those appointed to collect and distribute Zakat (handled strictly and minimally, where permitted).
- Those whose hearts are to be reconciled — new or potential members of the community in need of support.
- Those in bondage — to free people from slavery or unjust captivity.
- Those in debt (Al-Gharimin) — people burdened by debt they cannot repay.
- In the cause of Allah (Fi Sabilillah) — efforts that serve the welfare of the community.
- The wayfarer (Ibn as-Sabil) — stranded travelers and displaced people in need.
How We Handle Your Zakat
- Separation of funds: Zakat is tracked separately from all other donations to ensure it is used only for eligible purposes.
- Faithful distribution: We make every effort to distribute Zakat promptly to those who qualify.
- No deductions: Your Zakat is not reduced by administrative or fundraising costs. Our operational expenses are met through other, non-Zakat sources.
- Transparency: As our programs grow, we are committed to reporting on how Zakat funds are used.
Giving Your Zakat With Confidence
When you give your Zakat through Wesal, you can trust that it is treated as the sacred trust it is — delivered with care, accountability, and respect for both the giver and the recipient.
